Motorola Xoom officially landing on UK soils next week
Well guys, that day has finally arrived, the one where you get to purchase a Motorola Xoom tablet sans the black market. It seems like it was just yesterday, but thanks to some work on Motorola’s end and the backing of a few carriers here in the UK, those looking to take the leap of faith with the world’s first Honeycomb 3.0 tablet will be able to starting next week. As to the specific day when the device will be available we are not yet sure but we do know that retailers such as Dixons, Currys, Carphone Warehouse and PC World.
It is not clear which models will be launching (Wi-Fi or 3G) but we’re guessing those details will emerge shortly. Seeing that we have not heard a peep out of any of the wireless carriers declaring their love of all things Honeycomb 3.0 and Xoom, we would guess that this might be the Wi-Fi version. If you’re looking for a price, we have not been able to confirm one but the MSRP’s that have been floating around peg the Wi-Fi version at a cool £500.00 and the 3G version for an additional £100.00.
In case you need a refresher on specs, the Xoom tablet features a 10.1 inch capacitive touch display along with 32GB of internal memory and an SD card slot to increase that up to 64GB. There are USB charging ports as well as a SIM card (for the 3G version) and running the show underneath is a 1GHz Tegra 2 Processor from none other than NVIDIA. Camera on the back is 8 megapixels and yes it does full 1080p video shooting and for all those video conference junkies there is a 2 megapixel front facing camera.
