Motorola Milestone gets Android 2.2 Froyo

The Motorola Milestone has reached another milestone (pun definitely intended) as the device has received a nice Froyo 2.2 update. The update was released by Motorola and so far there are a few things that you should know before you decide to take the jump and upgrade to the Froyo.

The first thing is that DRM-locked content on your SD card could be lost, this is according to Motorola. As to what would cause this loss of data we are not sure, but the company is advising customers to be aware of the risk before they decide to slap the latest Android dessert on their devices. Not only that, but Motorola claims that updating to Froyo 2.2 can cause some applications to perform at a decreased speed than before the update and ultimately can slow up the entire processing of the phone.

How is this, we do not know because it has always been common knowledge that a software update brings speed boosts. However the warnings are there so if your DRM-locked Inception copy is lost or you notice Angry Birds takes longer than expected to start you know why. But for those miner issues, you get the ability to move applications to SD card as well as get Flash 10.1 player for all your online content and as Adobe put it, experiencing the full web.

So as we said before, if you trust Motorola’s “exhaustive testing process” and are willing to give the software and firmware update a try, be our guests. The update is available from Motorola’s site and the update process is straight forward which involves connecting the device to the computer in order to complete the upgrade. Not only that but Motorola does warn that some of the old applications might not work with the new software.
